I must admit that I have never been a fan of Neapolitan pizza. But there's an old saying, don't mock it until you try it. Ciao pizza and pasta ruined Neapolitan pizza for me - in a good way. There's not much that compares to this pizza - and that's coming from someone that went into this thinking no way I'm going to like doughy, non crispy pizza. But if you open your mind the possibilities are endless.
So I took a ride down to Chelsea Mass. and met up with my best friend Justin. What was waiting for us when we put our orders in can only be described as blissful. The freshest mozzarella, the perfectly cooked pizza dough, the most delicious red sauce all put together in a magical combination that would win awards in any competition - and they have. It's a pizza joint labeled as the #yelptop100 #2 in the whole country. It's well worth the ranking.
Justin got the soppressata and my only regret from that night is I didn't try a slice of his pie. It looks divine. Look at the char on the crust. The toppings are incredibly fresh. Just devoured his pie, zero leftovers. He isn't a Neapolitan fan either. Can you blame us? We both grew up on NY style pizza - thin and crispy. Irrelevant when you are eating pizza this good.
This is what your pizzas will look like when you place an order for two. It's a relatively small outdoor dining area. There's a parking lot, also small, but for Chelsea any off-street parking is nice. Our pizzas came out quickly and didn't last long. I've eaten a lot of Neapolitan pizzas since my visit to Ciao Pizza and Pasta and I can tell you there's not much that compares to this level of comfort food. It's expertly crafted and the best of the best. Enjoy your visit and leave a comment on my Facebook or Instagram page.
Happy pizza hunting, Jason
