Old Man Winter about to make a big comeback

Snow. It's a four letter word you either love or hate. This year it's been missing from our vocabulary. All that is about to change in a big way as the first Nor'easter in a long time is headed for the East Coast. Get the plows on, the shovels out of the sheds and pizza dough ready, it's time to talk snow.

All the colors you see in the image above are a snow lover's dream come true. This is a look at the European model ensemble forecast for the next couple of weeks. It shows the opportunity for several inches to feet of snow falling.

It's quite a different picture compared to the current snow depth in the northeast as of my writing this Tuesday night. The beginning of Winter did have some snow (technically end of Fall), but that's all been washed away from the Grinch Storm a couple of weeks ago. So we are basically starting over for snow and things will change in a hurry beginning Saturday.

The Nor'easter will start making flakes fly in the Tri-State area of NY/NJ/CT Saturday night into Sunday. Then the storm gets into New England with heavy snow up the I 95 corridor and especially into Hartford, Providence and Boston.

It's at least a 6 inch+ plowable storm for NYC to northwest NJ all the way up to Boston. This storm will feel like a much bigger one because it hasn't snowed in the big Northeast and New England cities for ages.

For northern New England we miss out on the heaviest snow thanks to a storm track that doesn't get close enough to the coast to throw moisture our way. Still, it's the first snow for extreme southern Maine and the NH seacoast. I expect 6 inches of snow along the coastline.

This will be an all-snow event for New England. Only Long Island and the Jersey shore to points south will see rain. Speaking of rain...the next storm is coming early to mid next week and it will be juiced up big time. Most of the snow that falls over the weekend will be washed away quickly.

Good news for snow lover's is Winter has just begun and we have an active jet stream thanks to a strong El Nino. Many more storm and snow opportunities left this season before Old Man Winter leaves town. Keep the faith and eat more pizza. Speaking of...here's one I made from scratch on Christmas Day to remind me of Mom.

See you on Facebook, Youtube and on tv. Best, Jason
