Sometimes in life you get lucky and I'm told it's better to be lucky than good, this is one of those times. When I moved home to pursue my dream job doing the weather at NEWS CENTER Maine and help with my Mom's cancer battle I never thought some of the best pizza on the planet was just up the road.
Welcome to Coletti's pizza factory in Biddeford, Maine. The pizzas frank is cranking out, up to 150 a night, are out of this world. Sausage, broccoli rabe, pepperoni, you name it, he's got all the classics and even some with his own twist.
You can't go wrong with his version of a Margherita, seen above...it's crispy and light with his own cheese. You will eat the whole thing without hesitation.
It could be a classic tomato pie (my personal favorite so you can really taste the crust and sauce), or sausage, mushrooms, broccoli rabe, etc. There is no such thing as a bad pie or a mediocre one at Coletti's. The crust is so light and Frank doesn't even measure ingrediencts for the dough, he's just that good.
But what you might not know about Frank is he is a caring, loving man. When he found out my Mom was sick with cancer he gifted me two of his homemade dough balls to bring home to Mom. I ended up making them for her because she was so sick. It was her favorite pizza before she died. So you may ask if this review is biased. Sure it is. Frank didn't ask me to write him a review. I speak my mind. It's some of the best pizza. You might not agree, but my family gets it regularly and the locals love it. We are lucky to have Frank and his staff in Maine. He's a class act. Look him up on Yelp and you'll see the hundreds of reviews I'm talking about.
p.s. If you like spicy, ask Frank for his special pie....you'll love it...or the Volcano pie, which is very unique and delicious, packed with ricotta cheese and to die for. #Yelptop100 www.facebook.com/jasonnappiwx www.instagram.com/jasonnappiwx
